UPS Tracking FAQs

Answers to the most common UPS tracking questions.

Why is my UPS tracking not updating?
UPS Ground shipments can go 24–48 hours without a scan between sorting facilities on long-haul routes. If your estimated delivery date has passed with no update, call UPS at 1-800-742-5877 or use the UPS My Choice dashboard to request a status update.
What does a UPS Exception mean?
A UPS Exception means an unexpected event is preventing normal delivery — common causes include weather delays, incorrect address, no one home for a signature-required package, or a customs hold. Log in to My UPS or the UPS app to see the specific reason and next steps.
How long does UPS Ground take to deliver?
UPS Ground delivers in 1–5 business days within the contiguous US, depending on distance. UPS Next Day Air delivers by 10:30 a.m. the next business day. UPS 2nd Day Air delivers by end of day on the second business day.
What is a UPS InfoNotice?
A UPS InfoNotice is a notice left at your address when a delivery attempt fails. It contains an 8-digit InfoNotice number you can enter at ups.com to schedule redelivery, redirect to a UPS Access Point, or authorise release without a signature.
What is UPS SurePost and how do I track it?
UPS SurePost is a lightweight parcel service where UPS handles pickup and transport to your local post office, and USPS delivers the final mile. Track it using the UPS tracking number — the UPS page automatically shows the USPS tracking number once the handoff occurs. You can also enter either number directly on USPS.com.
How do I redirect a UPS package?
Log in to UPS My Choice (free) and use "Redirect a Package" to change the delivery address or redirect to a UPS Access Point or UPS Store. Some redirects require the shipper's permission. UPS charges a fee for address changes on business packages.
